Aug. 23- Curfew
A curfew is now in place! The Rochester City Council voted for a 90-day trial of a youth curfew in the city to curb the number of deaths that occur ever year. This effort was proposed after seven children were killd on city streets last year.
What This Curfew Means:
From Sept. 5- Dec. 4, unsupervised children 16 and under are not to be at a public place from
Opinions:
- The opponents claimed that this law was a violation of the rights of young people
- The supporters say it is a crucial step to assisting youth caught up in violent lifestyles
Addition Information & How it Works:
- The city is spending approximately $250,000 on this pilot project
- How this would work is that if a minor is found, he/she will be taken to HIllside Children's Center on 1337 E. Main Street where his or her parent or guardian will have to pick them up. If a parent can not be reached, the youth will be taken to Monroe COunty CHild Protectice Services on
